I really love this idea. So I am cleaning and decluttering with a minimum goal in mind of stuff to rid my house of. I think I can do one bags worth of stuff per day.

I was intrigued by the 40 Trash Bags in 40 Days Lenten challenge that made the rounds of Catholic mom blogs during Lent last year.
It’s a pretty simple concept: Just commit to ridding your home of 40 bags of “stuff” during the 40 days of Lent.
You can throw it away or give it away—garbage, clothing, toys, books, etc. You can pick the size of bag that makes the most sense for your circumstances—large garbage bags if you have a lot of clutter, smaller bags if you have less.
I don’t think the rules need to be hard and fast. Basically, the idea is to commit to 40 days of possibly uncomfortable “letting go.” A great way to observe Lent!
This is a great idea….put the challenge to the children as well and do plastic grocery bags and see if they can come up with items as well!!

I would LOVE to try this, but since everything is either as new or brand new (youngs married couple, first home) so I feel like im betraying my family
plus I have the kind of family who NOTICE’S if that ugly owl, plate, mug ect. isn’t proudly on display since they gifted it lol
oh well, prehap’s next year!
I hope all goes well for your clean out! sound’s fun.

I understand totally! It took me 15 years to give myself permission to give away or sell unwanted or unused wedding gifts. I have a really tiny house and lots of children, so I got to a point where I had to rid my home of the visual clutter. I can’t function well with all the stuff.
Maybe one year you can. I would not worry about it much. Enjoy it while you have it 🙂
Thank You!
